Overview of Bromley & Sidcup Business Network Web Design Case Study
I launched the Bromley & Sidcup Business Network, a local directory built to help small businesses in South East London connect, collaborate, and promote themselves more effectively. The concept was simple: provide a dedicated online space where local owners (predominantly in Sidcup and Bromley) could showcase their services, share updates, and support one another, something more structured and visible than the scattered Facebook groups most relied on.

Strategy & Implementation
Strategy & Implementation
The project began with a clear goal: to create a simple, accessible, and professional directory for local businesses in Bromley, Sidcup, and Bexley. I designed and built the site from the ground up using Framer, focusing on ease of use and a clean layout that allowed each business to have its own dedicated profile.
Each listing includes a short bio, contact details, service overview, social media links, and a review function to help businesses build credibility within the community. A request-based submission form ensures that every listing is verified, maintaining a sense of quality and trust. Alongside the site, I set up a companion Facebook group to support future engagement and encourage local networking.
Even in its early stages, the directory has quickly drawn interest, with six profiles added within the first few days and more businesses reaching out to join. The project’s launch has already begun to create visibility for local owners who previously had no central platform to be discovered.
Key Results & Metrics
Although still in its early phase, the Bromley & Sidcup Business Network has achieved:
A functioning live directory featuring multiple verified local business profiles.
Active interest and early sign-ups from the surrounding business community.
The foundation of a companion Facebook group to foster ongoing discussion and promotion.
Positive feedback from initial participants who see the value in a central local business hub.
Evolution of the Strategy
To ensure the network grows sustainably, the approach is designed to evolve over time:
Phase | Approach |
---|---|
Phase 1: Launch & Testing | Built the live directory on Framer, established initial categories, and added the first local profiles. |
Phase 2: Community Building | Introduced a companion Facebook group to connect local owners and drive more visibility to listings. |
Phase 3: Growth & Refinement | Plan to expand listings, promote through local channels, and test features such as event listings and category filters. |
Phase 4: Long-Term Vision | Explore options for premium listings, sponsorships, and integrated messaging to build a sustainable, self-sufficient local platform. |
Ongoing Growth & Next Steps
The Bromley & Sidcup Business Network continues to grow as new businesses are added and awareness builds within the community. The next steps involve refining the user experience, improving discoverability through SEO, and promoting the directory through local partnerships and social channels.
This project is ultimately about more than just visibility, it’s about strengthening the local business community through collaboration and connection. By creating a platform built for and by local owners, the Bromley & Sidcup Business Network lays the groundwork for a more connected and supportive local economy.
