Overview of the Studio OS Platform Build
Studio OS is a bespoke booking and operations platform designed and built by Skwigl to demonstrate how a custom, all-in-one system can support the day-to-day running of a studio-based business. The project was created to address common challenges faced by fitness and wellness studios, including fragmented booking tools, manual admin work, and poor visibility over memberships, credits, and staff availability. The goal of Studio OS was to design a clear, user-friendly system that handled both the public-facing customer experience and the internal operational workflows behind the scenes. This included the design and build of a dedicated landing page, a streamlined booking journey, and a fully integrated internal platform for managing classes, clients, credits, subscriptions, and staff. Rather than relying on off-the-shelf tools with workarounds, Studio OS was built as a cohesive system from the ground up. Every feature was designed with real studio operations in mind, focusing on reducing manual effort, improving clarity, and creating a smoother experience for both customers and administrators.
Internal Project
Fitness, Wellness & Studio-Based Businesses
Studio OS showcases Skwigl’s ability to design and build clear, practical systems that go beyond simple websites and support real business operations.
Platform Strategy & Implementation
Strategy & System Design
The platform was designed around a simple principle: studios need fewer tools, not more. Many studios rely on a combination of booking software, spreadsheets, payment tools, and manual processes, which often leads to errors, inefficiencies, and a poor customer experience.
Studio OS was planned as a single system that could support the full operational lifecycle of a studio. This included public booking, customer account management, credit-based class access, staff scheduling, and internal reporting. The strategy prioritised clarity and reliability over unnecessary features, ensuring that the system remained easy to use and maintain.
Public-Facing Experience
The customer-facing side of Studio OS includes a dedicated landing page and booking flow designed to be simple and intuitive. Visitors can understand how the studio operates, browse available sessions, and book classes without friction. The design avoids clutter and unnecessary steps, helping reduce drop-off and confusion during booking.
Clear messaging and structure were used throughout to ensure that new users could quickly understand class formats, credit usage, and membership options without needing additional explanation.
Internal Platform & Operations
Behind the scenes, Studio OS includes a fully custom internal system for managing the studio’s operations. This allows administrators to manage customers, track credits and subscriptions, schedule sessions, assign staff, and monitor usage from a single dashboard.
Key workflows were automated wherever possible. Credit deductions, booking confirmations, and status updates are handled automatically, reducing the need for manual checks and follow-ups. This approach was designed to save time for studio owners while also reducing the risk of errors.
Platform Structure & Feature Breakdown
Component | Approach |
|---|---|
Landing Page & Booking UX | Designed a clear, conversion-focused landing page with a simple booking journey that explains how the studio operates and allows users to book sessions with minimal friction. |
Credit & Membership Logic | Built a flexible credit-based system to support class packs, memberships, and subscriptions, ensuring credits are applied and deducted accurately across different booking scenarios. |
Customer & Account Management | Created tools to manage customer profiles, booking history, credit balances, and membership status within a single system. |
Staff & Session Scheduling | Implemented scheduling logic to manage sessions, assign instructors, and track availability without relying on external tools or spreadsheets. |
Automation & Admin Workflows | Introduced automated confirmations, status updates, and internal workflows to reduce manual admin work and improve operational clarity. |
Ongoing Use & Future Applications
Studio OS was built as a scalable foundation rather than a one-off prototype. The system can be extended to support additional features such as advanced reporting, multi-location studios, waitlists, or custom pricing models. Its modular structure also makes it suitable for adaptation across different types of studio-based businesses, including fitness, pilates, yoga, and wellness providers.
This project demonstrates how a thoughtfully designed custom platform can replace multiple disconnected tools with a single, reliable system. Studio OS serves as a practical example of how Skwigl approaches complex digital builds, combining clear design, structured logic, and real-world operational thinking to deliver solutions that are both usable and sustainable.
